Mercados- Aries International is undertaking a comprehensive study on Kenya’s electricity sector to examine issues related to power market development and prepare the sector for both local and regional market participation in anticipation of the upcoming open access regime and operationalization of electricity trading within the East African Power Pool. This is a downstream assignment from our 2016 6th Cost-of-Service study and involves a thorough review of power sector reforms, policies and expansion plans to date, as well as the development of market design and action plan for implementation, including the monitoring progress in opening the electricity market.
