Mercados – Aries International, with funding from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, has been supporting the Mongolian authorities for the competitive procurement of Renewable Energy since 2018.
The first phase of the assignment produced detailed recommendations for the design of a competitive scheme for the award of future support to renewable energy generators in the country.
As a result, Mercados – Aries International was commissioned to provide support for the Implementation of Renewable Energy Auctions in Mongolia.
This second phase covered the development of the necessary regulation for the agreed design and the production of all tender documentation for wind and solar PV projects. The assignment also covered the identification of the sites on which pilot auctions were to be conducted and the continuous support and capacity building to Mongolian authorities through the implementation of the pilot tender for solar PV and the first tender for wind.
