Our Renewables and Storage Unit (RENS) has been leading an important project in The Gambia over the last year and a half, as owner’s engineer for the Gambia Electricity Restoration and Modernization Project (GERMP) whose main objective is to increase the Gambian population’s access to affordable and reliable electricity services.
Likewise, our Networks Unit (N&S) in collaboration with the Water and ESG Unit has recently started another project in The Gambia to design and implement a performance monitoring mechanism for the National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC), thus confirming the strong position that Mercados-Aries International is gaining in Western Africa.
As part of the activities under the GERMP, at Mercados-Aries International we have hosted a study tour for the top management of the Gambian national utility, who were accompanied by the Honourable Minister of Energy and Petroleum of The Gambia.
They have learned about solar energy and storage, as well as High Voltage operations, as the project under the GERMP will be the first utility-size solar and BESS development in the country, with high voltage (225 kV) interconnection to the regional grid.
